3. cSwing Help

After you have requested, downloaded and installed the program, you can decide whether you want to download the full help file which contains all the pictures and illustrations that will help you learn cSwing. The help file is too large to download as one file, so we have split it into four smaller ones and provided a program to combine them.

Instructions:

- Broadband users:

  1. Click on the link to the full download: cSwing Help file (38 MB).
  2. Save it to the folder where you installed cSwing (example: C:\Program Files\cSwing).
  3. Now when you use the Help -> About menu command in cSwing, the help contents will be displayed.

- Dialup users:

  1. Click on each of the four links below to start each download.
  2. For each download, you must save the files to the folder where you installed cSwing (example: C:\Program Files\cSwing). This enables cSwing to find the help file.
  3. Wait for each download to complete and then start the next download.
  4. After you have finished downloading all four files, click on the Join Help link that is below the four help files.
  5. Choose Open instead of Save. This will start the Join Help program after a few seconds.
  6. Press OK at the Join Help prompt to combine the downloaded files.

cSwing Help (part 1 of 4, 9.6 MB)
cSwing Help (part 2 of 4, 9.6 MB)
cSwing Help (part 3 of 4, 9.6 MB)
cSwing Help (part 4 of 4, 9.0 MB)

Join Help (41 KB) (after you have downloaded the four files above to your cSwing program folder, click on this link and choose Open to combine them).

Now when you use the Help -> About menu command in cSwing, the help contents will be displayed.

4. Microsoft DirectX 8.1

DirectX provides the multimedia support required by cSwing. cSwing requires version 8.1 or later.

DirectX 8.1 is included in Windows XP. If you have Windows XP, you do not need to download it here. Microsoft released DirectX 9 in December 2002. cSwing works with DirectX 9 but it is not required.

The cSwing Installer has an "Install DirectX" link on the start up screen. You can click on this link to check if you have DirectX 8.1 or later. Here are the links to Microsoft downloads in case you need them:

Microsoft DirectX 8.1 for Windows 98 and Windows Me (12.1 MB)
Microsoft DirectX 8.1 for Windows 2000 (7.9 MB)

5. Windows 98 System Files

In rare cases, you may need this Microsoft update if you are running Windows 98. It is not required for other versions of Windows. If you receive an error about a missing file, such as msvcp60.dll or mfc42.dll, when you start cSwing, downloading and installing this update will fix the problem.

Microsoft Windows 98 System Files (1.8 MB)
